THE SIERPINSKI CARPET PROJECT

Last October, I was invited to the 8th Science Projects Workshop in the Future Classroom Lab (Brussels, Belgium):

It was a great opportunity and I didn't let it pass. I  met a lot of people, but It should be nout that the first day I was talking with Mr José Luis Rodríguez Blancasa passionate teacher who want to spread how can we teach with fractal.

When he started to talk me about the Sierpinski carpet project, I was fascinated and I decided take part on it. It's a nonprofit, collective and joint activity among childre, from 3 to 99 years old, around the world. They want to buil a giant geometric fractal, known as Sierpinski Carpet, with coloured squared stickers.

The goal of the project is a 43,74 m Sierpinski carpet. It will be made in Almeria in may 2016.

IES Profesor Tierno Galván has contributed with a fourth iteration of the fractal, wich is made with 4096 stickers (a 1'62 m sqare). It has been made by the students of 2º ESO:

And finally, we have decorated the classroom with our Sierpinski carpet:

thanks!
